Shelby Ennett is an abstract impressionist painter from Dresden Ontario. She graduated from Brock University with a BFA in 2015 and has pursued opportunities in and around Chatham Kent to educate all ages in the arts. Previously, Shelby owned an art studio in CK (SmART Studio) where she taught structured lessons to children. Additionally, Shelby’s involvement within the LKDSB through the SHSM programs offered high school students a unique opportunity to learn about modern techniques and an honest perspective of an artist’s working life in Chatham Kent.
As a working artist, Shelby finds inspiration from her experiences. Feeling a strong emotional connection to a particular landscape or a memory inspire her process. Although her subject matters vary dramatically, Shelby presents an intimate perspective on her mundane, and connects emotional themes
throughout her works with signature line work and colours. Thematically, viewers witness an underlying honesty throughout Shelby’s works. Every mark is made with purpose, without a fear of mistake or consequence.
